Sisterhood means a great deal to me. Recently, I read and shared a story of an adult daughter and her mom having a conversation about the importance of the sisters in our lives. It was a touching story, one that was thought provoking.
I began to think of all the sisters that had touched my life in one way or another: mother, grandmothers, aunts, friends, neighbors, cousins, co-workers, classmates, etc. Along my journey I have come to value my sisters in a way that I believe we deserve to be valued. I LOVE my sisters!!
We are queens, beautiful from the inside out. We are delicate and STRONG. We are sensitive and TOUGH. We are love and to be LOVED. We are so much more than others say we are.
Yet, are we standing beside our fellow sisters, walking with her, cheering her on, encouraging her, sharing with her, giving it to her straight, listening when she only wants to vent, loving her when she feels unloved, picking her up when she's fallen, smiling with her when she's reached another milestone, wiping her tears when she's hurt? Let’s face it we all are unique but there are so many common threads that we are woven with.
No need to tear her down in hopes of building ourselves up. No need to hate when her ship has come in and she’s prepared herself for such an opportunity. No need to disrespect ourselves in hopes of gaining the respect of another. No need to kick her when she’s down. No need to gossip about her…help her.
Help her because she holds so much potential. Think of a time in your life when someone believed in you. Perhaps, it was a parent, grandparent, distant relative, a teacher, a coach or your next door neighbor. How did they change your life? We all need each other. Stop competing with your sister. Be the absolute best that you can be and know that there is room for every one of us at the table that we were born to have a position at. Remember, what is for you no one can take. It has your name on it and is waiting on your timely arrival. You have greatness within you and every one of our sisters does too.
I feel it is my mission to bring about an ENORMOUS sisterhood movement. It's time that me and ALL my sisters L.O.O.P. (Ladies Operating On Purpose) our arms together and show our young sisters how to G.R.O.W. (Girls Realizing Our Worth) After all, together, we get better. Join me won’t you?

About the Author
Irma had a wonderful life, a successful business, a husband, two children, a dog and life was good. When a fire led to a chain of events that changed the course of her life. She loss over $2 million dollars, faced repossessions, foreclosure, bankruptcy, divorce, a battle with depression and a stroke that left her unable to walk or talk.
